Tokyo Girls Collection to be held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium on March 2

TOKYO — The 16th Tokyo Girls Collection 2013 Spring/Summer will be held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium on March 2. The show returns to Yoyogi after a two-year hiatus.



The wildly popular biannual collection, which lasts about six hours, draws well over 30,000 young women as well as many foreign media, looking to see the latest “kawaii” (cute) fashions worn by Japanese models and celebrities.

The theme for the March show is “This is the Fashion Festa,” and will mix trendy styles with nostalgic and modern themes. Organizers say that through this theme, “We will present the most attractive fashion styles for an information society age in a borderless world.”

During the show, attendees who come wearing this season’s trendy color will receive a special gift. Also, a fantastic illumination world will be created with penlights given to all attendees. The day’s program also includes live performances by artists, charity auctions and collaborative shows.

A linked sales service will be in operation throughout the six-hour show. Attendees can buy clothes that are worn by the models in real time by using their smartphones.

Some of the 70 models scheduled to participate include Anna Tsuchiya, Karina, Elena, Karina, Reina Triendl, Maki Nishiyama, Rina Fujii, Angelica Michibata, Carolina, Anna Nose, Emiri, Miyu, Ellie Toyota, Kozue Akimoto, and many more.

Doors open at 1 p.m. and the show starts at 3 p.m. and finishes at 9:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from 15,000 yen for platinum reserved seats to 5,500 yen for non-reserved seats.
